Kep Ultra in Perth, Western Australia
The Kep Ultra is a 75km and 100km ultra distance trail event on just outside Perth, Western Australia on the Kep Track.
Due to issues with government red tape, there will be no official Kep Ultra event in 2016. Rob Donkersloot will be running the 100km course himself on June 5th 2016, and other people may be joining him in this non-official run. Find out more at Rob's 5 June 2016 Campout Facebook group.
The 75km route follows the complete Kep Track, while the 100km run also includes a large section of the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail which runs from Mt Helena down to Bellevue and back up to Mundaring.
This event is held on the Foundation Day long weekend, the first Sunday in June, which is around the same time as the running of the Comrades Marathon in South Africa. This allows Kep runners to sync their training with people going over to do Comrades if they wish to do so.
Both events start at Bernard Park in Northam and finish at Mundaring Weir. The two courses diverge at Mt Helena with the 75km taking a direct route to the finish, and the 100km following a longer loop to get there.
