The Maitand Triathlon returns on on Sunday, 4 November 2018 with a Standard/Olympic format of 1500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run and a Sprint Triathlon with a 750m swim, 22km cycle and 5km run.
This Standard/Olympic race is intended for Triathletes who can complete the whole course or 2-3 individuals who can completed one or 2 legs each as a relay team. The swim leg will be a up and back 1500m swim in the Hunter River, 40km cycle leg in and around Morpeth and Duckenfield flat farm land roads and a 10km run which is flat and fast around Brush Farm Rd.
The Sprint Distance is for those who have trained for the event or relay participants looking for a solid leg kit out.
The Maitand Triathlon started in 1994 and was staged until 2011 at Morpeth in NSW. The event has played host to some very famous triathletes with Peter Robertson, Graig Alexander and Brendan Sexton, all hitting the course in its 18 year history. The event has played host to State Championships and also been local and regional competitions between local clubs, Maitland, Tomoree, Newcastle and Singelton.
