The Park O Winter Orienteering Series in Cairns race on Thursday, 25 August 2016 is part of a Thursday night series.

Park Orienteering or Park O is conducted primarily in suburban parks, gardens, schools and crown land as well as via streets and lanes. A mass start or "scatter" style event is most popular, ensuring all competitors have one hour to locate as many of the 25 checkpoints from the provided colour map and clue sheet as possible. Checkpoints have varying values from 5 to 25 points depending on distance and navigation challenge. The person or team with the highest score is the event winner.
