New to Far North Queensland is Phone Orienteering at Centenary Lakes!
If you own (or can borrow) an Android or Apple smartphone and can read a map, then you can join this inaugural event hosted by Far North Orienteering.
The event format is Timed Scatter Score, with 3 courses on offer:
- Easy: 30 minutes (approx 2km perfect for the mum, dad and the kids)
- Moderate: 45 minutes (approx 5km)
- Hard: 60 minutes (approx 8km)
- a 30 point penalty applies for each part minute that you are late back.
Collect controls in any order you wish. Each control point has a score. For controls with numbers starting with 4, 40 points apply; Controls starting with 5, 50 points apply and so on. The aim is to visit as many controls as possible in the time allocated to your course.
