The Great Wheelbarrow Race is a 3 stage team relay event from Friday, 16 May to Sunday, 18 May 2014 where competitors push a wheelbarrow from Mareeba to Chillageo along the Wheelbarrow Highway.

Teams can have two to ten members, but they must all be able to fit legally in a single vehicle along with a race marshall. There is also a solo category for individual runners.
