The Long Walk Fun Walk in Melbourne, Victoria
The Long Walk Fun Walk is a 3.8km walk around The Tan Track in Melbourne to celebrate 10 years since Michael Long and many others walked to Canberra. This event will raise valuable funds for The Long Walk's education and cultural exchange programs.
In 2004, former Essendon player Michael Long and others walked from Melbourne to Canberra to ask the Prime Minister to put the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people back on the national agenda.
In the last ten years over 90,000 people have walked with Michael Long on The Long Walk events which have been held around Australia to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This event is at The Tan Track in Melbourne, starting from Tom's Block in the Kings Domain Gardens.
