Parkinson's Unity Walk and Run 2012

Parkinson's Unity Walk and Run 2012

This message is posted here for the event organisers of the Parkinson's Unity Walk and Run.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone for helping to make the 5th Anniversary Parkinson's Unity Walk and Run the biggest & best to date. The weather was glorious, the new T shirts provided by Team Clothing Co looked absolutely sensational and the sea of purple was a sight to behold.

The 8km run attracted many of Australia's elite runners. The male winner Ben St Lawrence represented Australia in the 10,000 metres at the recent London Olympics and the female winner Chloe Tighe represented Australia at last year's World Cross Country Championships. An indication that the quality of the field is rising is that last year's male winner could only manage 5th. Both winners are off to Hawaii courtesy of Hawaiian Airlines and Hawaii Tourism.

This year's event attracted just short of 2,000 (next year we'll surpass it). Walk numbers were up 16.6% and run numbers were up a staggering 173%. I predict that in a few short years the Parkinson's Unity Run will rival some of the biggest run events in the country. We are already attracting some of the country's elite competitors and it will only get better. We now also have the 4kn run for the more recreational athlete.

You may view the run & walk photos at and the full results.

Thank you again.

All options are inclusive except for the kids, women only and wheelchair options. For example, choosing "On Road", "Off Road", "Short", "NSW" and "ACT" will find on and and off road short distance races in NSW and ACT. Adding "Kids" would limit those results to only events which also have a kids event.
