Remembrance Day Red Run - November 8th 2015
Executive Excellence Events and Innerpulse are proud to announce Remembrance Day Red Run on November 8th 2015.
A Red Run, marking remembrance day is to be held from 0730 on 8 November 2015 at Ballymore Oval, Brisbane. This is the debut year for this event that aims to remember those service men and women who have fought and died for Australia in all wars and armed conflicts.
The 11km run will start at 730am followed shortly after by the 5.5km at 820am.
It is expected that over 2000 participants from Brisbane and surrounding regions will take part in the event, raising money for their chosen charity, with approximately 4000 patrons taking part in the planned activities throughout the day.
The Red Run supports two charities of Legacy Brisbane and Soldier on. Participants will have the option to fundraise for their choice of these two charities.
World War II Veteran, 98-year-old Merv Clark is the Red Run ambassador. Merv is passionate about remembering those who sacrificed so much, including his Dad, Frank. “My father was killed in the First World War on the 1st of February, 1917. I was born on the 8th of March, 1917.”
The Remembrance Day run is an event for the whole family where participants are encouraged to run, jog or walk a 5.5km or 11km distance wearing red to honour those like Merv and his Dad who fought for Australia. At the end of the run participants will be encouraged to lay a poppy on the iconic hill of Ballymore and mark a minutes silence. The poppies will then remain until Remembrance Day on 11 November 2015.
A rugby game will be played at the completion of the remembrance run at 1100am on Ballymore Stadium Oval 1.
Organisers of the Remembrance Run, Executive Events and Innerpulse, have partnered together to ensure the events success for the local community.
