The Land of the Rising Sun dawned brightly again at the Gold Coast Airport Marathon today. Japanese runners won both the men's and women's marathons in course record times, while taking the top two spots in the men's race. Read more.

Star Wars fan attempts to set running record in Death Valley dressed as Darth Vader
Say it five times fast: "Darth Vader-dressed dude dashes in Death Valley." It sounds like a comic convention fever dream, but it's very real. Jonathan Rice is a fan of heat running. It's pretty much what it sounds like. It involves running in stifling hot temperatures. Read more.

How to complete high-intensity interval hill workouts
David Dack at Active.com writes "Running is a cardiovascular exercise per excellence. It burns mad calories, boosts metabolism levels through the roof, prevents heart-related problems, and so on. But if you really want to reap the maximum health and calorie-torching benefits, opt for high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Combining HIIT with hill repeats is a great way to boost your fitness, and increase strength." Read more.
