Old-fashioned plimsolls with flat soles are better for kids' feet
"Modern trainers with thick heels makes it more difficult for young people to learn to run using the front foot" say scientists according to The Independent. There's been so much talk and debate about cushioned shoes vs minimal shoes vs barefoot running in recent years, but I don't think I've seen m/any articles looking at kids. My own kids prefer to go about barefoot as much as possible for any activity... Read the article here.

Wife of round-the-world runner Tom Denniss faced own endurance test
Standing on the steps of Sydney Opera House as Tom Denniss completed his 26,000km run around the world on Friday was a woman who had just completed an endurance test of her own. Carmel Denniss had just finished 622 days of driving 50km a day, pulling over by the side of the road to make her husband a sandwich in the boot, booking hotels at the last minute, and waiting for him to suddenly come running down the road. New filter function for recent updates on the website homepage
It's been a big week of updates with many new events and dates being added, and a lot of minor updates. I've checked almost 200 event websites / event listings in the last 7 days, which accounts for about 20% of the listing pages.

If you check the website homepage, you'll see a massive load of updates. In order to make it easier for you to follow these, I've added a filter function so you can choose the state(s) you want to see updates for. It then shows just events in those state(s), and also all other non-event updates, such as the weekly newsletter, blog posts and the occasional competition we list.

So, check out the website homepage for the most recently updated listings, and be sure to check back regularly for our frequent updates.

All options are inclusive except for the kids, women only and wheelchair options. For example, choosing "On Road", "Off Road", "Short", "NSW" and "ACT" will find on and and off road short distance races in NSW and ACT. Adding "Kids" would limit those results to only events which also have a kids event.
