Dave Wottle's 1972 Olympic Final 800m

I saw someone post a link to this on Facebook last week and it's really quite an amazing race. I won't spoil what happened here in the newsletter, so check it out on YouTube first and then read a retrospective article here at The Blade newspaper.

Hoka OneOne signs 800 & 1500 metre runners

Hoka OneOne is a relatively new "maximalist" running shoe, which has become popular with some ultra/trail runners. But now they've managed to sign a couple of 800 metre and 1500 metre runners to use their shoes, despite not having spikes for their shoes. Find out more at Runners World.

Baw Baw to Bourke Street Trail Run Challenges Runners to Stay Off-Road

Two endurance runners are set to run 180km from Baw Baw mountain to Bourke Street Mall, in an attempt to follow a route that stays almost entirely on trail and off road, taking in both wild national and suburban park landscapes. Read more.

Brendan Davies Running Wild Wentworth Falls Race Report

Pacers in Ultras - Should we or shouldn't we?

On the one hand they're a great way for race directors to ensure the safety of runners out on the course... on the other, do they create an unfair advantage for those that have them over those that don't? Are runners who are allowed pacers but chose not to, doing themselves a disservice by not having one? Do runners with pacers gain an advantage over those that don't? Read the case for and the case against at Ultra168.

Search Calendar Close

Select from the various options below and click the "Search Calendar" button under the form to show events of the most interest to you. Clear form

All options are inclusive except for the kids, women only and wheelchair options. For example, choosing "On Road", "Off Road", "Short", "NSW" and "ACT" will find on and and off road short distance races in NSW and ACT. Adding "Kids" would limit those results to only events which also have a kids event.

Exclude Event Name/Location

Events with this name or location will be excluded from the search results; this helps for hiding events like parkrun
