Shoplifter gets schooled by ultrarunners
Several employees at the Rock/Creek store in Chattanooga, Tennessee got an unexpected midday run in when a customer allegedly bolted out the door with stolen merchandise. They took off immediately after the suspect, chasing him down the street, through parking lots and into a nearby wooded area. Read the story here at TrailRunner magazine; the moral is not to mess with ultrarunners!

Three DIY energy bars
Runners World posts three recipes for do it yourself energy bars: "Primal Bars" (with an interesting assortment of ingredients!); "PackFit Bars"; and no-bake date, cashew and cocoa bars. Check out the recipes here and give them a go yourself.

10 major running mistakes runners keep making
We've all made them, some of us more than others. There's plenty of us that keep making them. This article covers some big running mistakes all runners of all levels keep making, including: forgetting to lube; not testing gear and nutrition; and not calling yourself a runner. Read them all here.

Strength training for trail runners
The nature of trail running often requires less speed and more strength in order to navigate technical terrain and steep climbs and descents. Indeed, the many obstacles along any trail require a good amount of all-around athleticism to run from start to finish as fast as possible, all while skirting injury.
