9 reasons it might be hard to sleep after your long race/run
Beth @ Shut Up + Run posts some suggestions about why you might have issues sleeping after a long run or a long race; check them out here. I personally have issues sleeping the night before a big event, but not so much the night after it. I usually find taking magnesium before going to bed is really good for helping me sleep.

Downhill running training
If you've ever run a race with long or steep hills, you know what hill running can do to your legs. Even though running uphill seems harder, it's the downhills that cause the biggest problems - but with the proper training can offer big rewards. Active.com offers some training suggestions here.

Top ultrarunner breathes new life into career
Running Times talks to New Zealand ultra runner Anna Frost, who has had a recent hiatus from competition, and is now happier and going longer. Frosty vanished from the scene in 2013; she could blame her absence on injured shins, but she was less able to explain the psychological issues that were preventing her from getting back to the trails. Trail Run Festival Returns to Mount Baw Baw
Trail running enthusiasts and their families will gather at Mount Baw Baw over the March long weekend (March 7th to 9th 2015, i.e. this weekend coming up) for the annual Baw Baw Trail Run Festival, a three-day event dedicated entirely to trail running and its lifestyle. Find out more.

Wilson's Prom Competition
Go in the draw to win a free entry to Wilsons Prom 100: run 44km, 60km, 80km or 100km at Wilson's Promontory National Park in Victoria on May 2nd 2015. The competition runs until Sunday night, with the winner drawn on Monday. Enter competition.

PCYC Gladstone Rainbow Run Competition Competition
Go in the draw to win a free entry to the PCYC Gladstone Rainbow Run on April 12th 2015 at Mt Larcom in Queensland. The competition runs until March 15th with the winner drawn the following day. Enter competition.

Recent updates

I include in this newsletter a list of the more important updates such as date changes, cancellations or late additions to the calendar. Late additions are events which will take place in the next two to three weeks and have only just been added to the website.

- The Coburg 6 hour race on Sunday has moved from Harold Stevens Athletic Track to George Knott Athletic Field
- The Kokoda Challenge in the Gold Coast now has a 48K trek, in addition to the 96K and schools 96K & 48K challenges
