This week's newsletter has interesting articles, our CLIF Bar competition which runs until Sunday night, a location change for Tough Mudder Sydney, and some late additions to the running calendar.
Milly's natural high
It's not often an Aussie gets on the marathon podium of a major international race with a bunch of elite Africans, but that's what happened on October 18th in Amsterdam when Milly Clark shocked many with a super 2:29.07 run. Read her story here at iRun.
First person to run a marathon without talking about it
This video takes a swipe at the way many runners just can't resist talking about their running. This video is funny whether you are a runner or not, because you've probably been on the giving or receiving end of this, or both. Watch it here on Facebook (no account required).
Blind athlete runs Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
Dan Berlin became the first blind athlete to run the iconic trail in Peru in a single day, a rugged 42 kilometre trek at altitude in the Peruvian Andes. Read the story here at Trail Runner Mag.
14 tips for interval training
Will Lind posts up 14 tips for interval training in this article at Functional Running. These include long warm ups, accepting the pain, having purpose, track and record, and the long cool down.
The heart of Melbourne
Davie Paroissien writes "I loosen the top button on my shirt and take in a half breath. The day is finished; the evening has started in half-light. This is a short story of a single run around Melbourne's tan track." Read more here.
CLIF Bar Competition
To celebrate the new CLIF Bar Flavour being released on November 1st, we have a box of 12 Coconut Choc Chip CLIF Bars to give away. Find out more about the new flavour here and enter the competition here. You have until Sunday night to enter, with the winner drawn on Monday.
To find out what's been recently updated, check the website homepage regularly. I include in this newsletter a list of the more important updates such as date changes, cancellations or late additions to the calendar. Late additions are events which will take place in the next two to three weeks and have only just been added to the website.
- I have a fairly large backlog of orienteering events to add and so far have made a start on Orienteering ACT (next event on November 2nd) and the Sydney Summer Series (next event this afternoon) and a lot more will be added in the next few days
- Sydney Summer Twilight Series: the first event in the 2015/16 series is on November 5th
- Tough Mudder Sydney on Novmber 21st & 22nd has moved to Glenworth Valley
