5 things you didn't know about directing a race
When race directors do their work well, you may not even notice, because everything - food, water, course markings - is where it's expected to be. In fact, race directors put in tons of behind-the-scenes work to make runners happy and satisfied. To learn more about this surprisingly complex process, Kate McNeill spoke to a few experienced RDs in this article at Trail Runner Magazine.
Father sets world record, wins half marathon pushing stroller
Holland Neff, 11 months, was the first competitor to cross the finish line at Saturday's Katy Half Marathon in Katy, Texas. She was followed closely by her father, Calum Neff, 31, of Houston, who set a pending stroller half marathon Guinness world record of 1:11:27. Find out more at Runner's World.
Runners tackle Moldova wine cellar 10K race
About 200 people limbered up for the underground Wine Run event in the town of Cricova in Moldova. Participants wore head torches to help them navigate the darker sections of the tunnels, but even the winner found the conditions tricky. Find out more in this article at the BBC.
How to prevent common running injuries
The true cause of running injuries - and injury-prevention - is multifaceted. “A combination of things - for example, an anatomical issue plus a training error and the wrong shoes - can add up to injury,” says Joseph Hamill, a biomechanist at the University of Massachusetts, America.
