This week's newsletter has interesting articles, discounts for premium members, some date changes/corrections, cancellations & postponements, and the late addition of the Beach Bums Beach Bash in Forster on 27 May.
The Running Calendar websites use Google Maps to show the location of events. Google is making some major changes to billing and use of their maps service effective 11 June, making it unfeasable to continue to use the maps as I currently do. Find out more about what's going to change here.
Ultra-Trail Australia acquired by IRONMAN
Some big news just announced yesterday: IRONMAN has acquired AROC Sport and Ultra-Trail Australia (UTA), the most prestigious multi-distance trail running event in Australia. Find out more in the press release here on the Ultra Trail Australia website. UTA is on this weekend with events from Friday to Sunday.
Try an obstacle race
Obstacle racing is getting bigger and bigger each year, and is playtime for kids and adults, getting down and dirty, facing challenges, overcoming fear, having fun and laughter, giving a helping hand and sharing stories of achievements and epic fails afterword with friends and family. Find out more and get some training tips in this article at Health24. And don't forget to check out our Obstacle Race Calendar.
Maximize your middle-aged running
For many of us, running isn’t just dating. It’s marriage. We’re in it to win it, for richer and poorer, in sickness and in health, and all the rest of it. But just like any long-term relationship, our interactions need to mature with age. Read Dena Evans tips for maximizing middle aged running in this blog post at Strava.
Premium members are automatically entered into a monthly prize draw; I'm still working out the details for the June prize draw, so watch this space.
Premium members also get access to discounts for a range of events in Australia & New Zealand. Enter enough discounted events and your membership pays for itself, as well as opening up a range of useful functions on the website. Check out the full list of discounts available here.
