New half marathon world record set
Kenya's Abraham Kiptum broke the men's half marathon world record at Sunday's race in Valencia, taking 5 seconds off the 8 year old record, and finishing in 58:18! Find out more at the IAAF website.
How to trail run: technique
As part of their "how to trail run" series, Trail Runner Magazine looks at running technique, covering foot strike (this in particular is excellent advice for all runners), stride dynmics, posture, arm swing and running uphills and downhills.

Online coach Ben Pulham looks at how much advice, both good and bad, is out there in our always connected online world and four things to consider when taking advice. Check it out here in his blog post on the Coached website.
How much is ageing really going to slow you down?
Runners World looks at a new study that suggests that our fitness declines much more gradually than we thought in this article.
An interesting point made is that as runners get older, they still want to set PBs but get discouraged and pessimistic as they get slower. In reality, they could be competing at a higher level than they were when they were younger, relative to their age.

- Greater Springfield Run For Life was postponed on 21 October due to flooding of the course; a new date is still to be set
