The inaugural Budj Bim Lava Blast on 11 October 2026 is set on the trails in one of Australia's most stunning volcanic landscapes.
Held within the World Heritage listed Budj Bim National Park in Macarthur, Victoria, distances include Half Marathon, 10km and 3km trail run, plus a family run/walk.
The Half Marathon is a scenic, challenging course on recently refurbished rolled-stone tracks, providing great running conditions for runners chasing a new PB. The final stages of the course brings runners back along the western rim of the volcanic crater.
The 10km route heads straight into tranquil bushland, then also takes in the cater rim. The 3km is a challenging course reaching the peak of the former Mt Eccles (now Budj Bim, meaning Big Head), and meandering through the rocky outcrops and towering manna gums.
The family run/walk is a short 800m course suited to all abilities, kids, families, prams, wheelchairs and ability scooters.
