GUMBY - Great Ultra Mediocre Back Yarder

The Great Ultra Mediocre Back Yarder (GUMBY) starting on 25 April 2026 is a traditional last one standing race in ACT.
The event takes place in the Brindabella Ranges to the west of Canberra. Starting on Saturday morning, GUMBY runners complete a 6.7km lap on the hour every hour until there is only one person standing. Everyone else receives a DNF.
The course is undulating fire trail starting in a corral at Blue Range Hut. It is either run clockwise or anticlockwise with the direction revealed on the Friday morning of GUMBY weekend.
Other weekend events include; the GumbyMOON on Friday, a 4 lap (26.8km) twilight journey under the stars and the GumBABY, an 8 lap race (53.6km) starting on Sunday morning.
New in 2026 is The GumbyGUMBO - run 100 miles across the weekend with 4 laps of the GumbyMOON on Friday, 12 laps of the GUMBY on Saturday, finishing off with 8 laps of the GumBABY on Sunday.
The event is organised by ULTRA Mediocre Runners of Canberra.
