The High Country Flyathlon on 5 December 2026 is a unique event combining trail running and fly fishing, with this event based from Mirimbah, Victoria.

The 14km course is along swooping single track through vibrant montane forests at the foot of Mt Buller. Wade in the crystal clear Delatite River headwaters.

There are two route choices - head downstream or upstream first and then reach both checkpoints to complete course.

As part of the event, all flyathletes must catch a fish and photograph it on an approved race ruler (provided at registration). Anyone who catches both a Rainbow and a Brown will receive a significant time bonus.

Failure to catch a fish will result in a DNF. Fish must be released and all effort made to avoid causing them extra harm.
