Newcastle Cross Country Club's race at the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens in Heatherbrae on Saturday, 2 June 2018 is the ninth in a series of races between April and September in the Hunter Region of NSW.
The Hunter Region Botanic Gardens cover an area of 140 hectares, much of which has been preserved as natural bushland. The Gardens, which were opened to the public in 1986, are designed, developed and managed by a non-profit company of volunteers. Run only on the designated tracks, not on the garden beds!
You do need to be a club member to participate in these events; membership is open to anyone subject to completing an application form and paying a fairly minimal registration fee. Either join online beforehand or on race day for a slightly higher fee.
